The BestLife Clinic is uniquely designed by clinicians, BestLife Emotional Health and Wellness Center is a small community based clinic, offering specialized, person-centered services. Treatment includes individual, couple, family and group therapy to individuals’ 5-years and older, inclusive of varying evidence based practices. Working with those impacted by long-term or transitional mental health, substance misuse, and/or co-occurring challenges.

Recovery Support Navigators (RSN) provides care management and system navigation supports to individuals with a diagnosis of substance use disorder and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. Recovery Support Navigators engage individuals as they present in the treatment system and support them in accessing treatment services and community resources. The Recovery Support Navigator explores treatment recovery options with individuals, helps clarify goals and strategies, provides education and resources, and assists individuals in accessing treatment and community supports.

The Recovery Support Navigator Responsibilities:
• Helps develop individual’s confidence in order to articulate their goals for recovery.
• Works with individuals in need of additional support in remaining engaged in treatment.
• Assists individuals to identify and access treatment and resources in the community including prescribers for addiction and psychiatric medications.
• Works with individuals develop and implement personal goals and objectives around treatment and recovery from addiction and/or co-occurring disorders.
• To prepare for a variety of formal and informal meetings including treatment planning, employment services and social engagements.
• Participates as part of the overall care team when appropriate.
• Interacts with individuals in order to assess needs, provide information, discuss problems, identify patterns and stressors and encourage growth and development.
• Serves as an advocate for people who have been hospitalized; visits them and attends hospital group therapy meetings with person when appropriate.
• Shares information about community resources, including peer-run groups, housing benefit resources, and community events; Facilitates community engagement activities for individuals.
• Informs, trains, supports and empowers individuals utilizing substance use services.
• Provides practical supports including aid with transportation and other tasks as needed and as requested by the individual being supported
• Remains up to date on current resources and knowledge of the recovery movement by attend trainings , participating in webinars, and reading relevant articles and/or books
• Notifies supervisor immediately in the event of an individual’s crisis, suspected illegal activity, or any behavior constituting an incident.
• Completes administrative tasks required including required documentation and timesheets and responds to requests for information and phone calls in a timely fashion.
• Promotes understanding of each individual’s cultural identity to be able to enhance support and respect of the individual’s choices.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

The Recovery Support Navigator Requirements, Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
• Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, acceptable driving record, and a safe reliable vehicle during working hours.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative, follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
• Good oral, written, computer, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing needs of the program participants.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, caring, and compassion.
• Cheerful, outgoing personality
• Demonstrates ability to engage and build respectful and collaborative relationships
• Must be at least twenty-one years old.
• Performs well under stress and in the event of a crisis
• Familiarity with local community resources

The Recovery Support Navigator Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in social Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or a related field
• Experience and proficiency in understanding about treatment and recovery from substance use disorders, including, but not limited to, an understanding of addiction services and resources available in the geographic area where they will serve.
