Position Title: Substance Use Disorders – SUD Counselor (Alcohol Drug Trainee – ADT, Certified Associate Counselor – Alcohol and Drug – CAC-AD)

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR POSITION TITLE: Clinical Supervisor

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Counselor/(in-training) will be responsible for executing all duties on a professional level and works closely with the Clients. This position carries out responsibilities in the following areas: implement applicable treatment protocols, residential support/rehabilitation, emergency plans/safety practices, health service policies and procedures with assigned chemically dependent clients in accordance with requirements of the Maryland Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and Therapists. The Counselor/(in-training) is responsible to complete the clinical charts adhering to compliance which includes notes, progress reports, monthly reports, SMART plans, individual, family therapy, aftercare and the over-all clinical make-up of orientation, group, individual, small groups, staff development, training and maintaining program Licensure. Familiarity with CARF standards and EMR (KIPU) helpful. All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the position, the candidate must Maintain current Licensure of Certification as ADT, CAC-AD, CSC, or advanced license in counseling, social work, or psychology with relevant licensure to provide substance abuse/dependence service delivery acceptable to Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. Appropriate course work as required by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and Therapists for the designation counselor and registry with the Board.

LICENSURE: CAC- AD; CPR; Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance required.

CONDITIONS: The new hire or transfer Counselor/ (in-training) will observe a ninety (90) day introductory period. With a satisfactory criteria-based performance evaluation, the Counselor/(in-training) will advance to a regular employee status. If the evaluation is not satisfactory, the Counselor/ (in-training) may be terminated.
